How to Measure an Existing Pair of Pants
Find a pair of pants that fits you well. Iron them flat before measuring. If the pants have pleats, measure with the pleats closed — do not stretch them open.
1 Waist
Lay flat. Measure straight across the top of the waistband from one side to the other.
2 Hip
Locate the bottom of the fly. Move up ½ inch. Measure straight across.
3 Front Rise
Measure from the crotch seam straight up to the top of the front waistband.
4 Back Rise
Flip over. Measure from the crotch seam to the top of the back waistband.
5 Inseam
Measure from the crotch seam down the inside seam to the bottom hem.
6 Outseam
Measure from the top of the waistband along the side seam to the hem.
7 Thigh
2 inches below the crotch — measure straight across.
8 Knee
Fold the leg so the hem meets the crotch. Measure 1 inch above the fold line.
9 Bottom Opening
Measure straight across the bottom hem from edge to edge.
How to Measure Your Body for Pants
Stand naturally wearing fitted underwear. Keep the tape snug against your skin but not tight. Having someone help makes this easier.
1 Waist
Wrap the tape around your natural waist. Keep it level and snug — not tight.
2 Hip
Wrap the tape around the fullest part of your hips/seat. Keep it level.
3 Outseam
Stand on a flat surface. Measure from your waist down the outside of your leg to the floor.
4 Inseam
Stand with feet shoulder-width apart. Measure from the crotch straight down to the floor.
5 Rise
Run the tape from the front waist point through the crotch to the back waist point.
6 Thigh
Wrap the tape around the fullest part of your thigh about 2 inches below the crotch.
7 Knee
Wrap the tape around the center of your kneecap with your leg slightly bent.

How to Measure for a Suit
A suit requires measurements for both the jacket and trousers. You can use garments from different sources — they don't need to be from the same suit. Refer to the Jackets and Pants guides above for step-by-step instructions with images.
Body Measurements for a Suit
Follow the Jacket body guide for your upper body, then the Pants body guide for your lower body. Combined, this gives us everything we need to create both garments.

Pro Tips for Better Measurements
Measure Twice
Take each measurement twice and compare. If the numbers differ by more than ½″, measure a third time.
Measure at the Right Time
Body measurements can change throughout the day. Measure when you'll typically be wearing the garment.
Iron Before Measuring
If measuring an existing garment, iron it flat first. Wrinkles can add 0.5″–1″ of error.
When in Doubt, Ask Us
Not sure about a measurement? Send us a photo of how you're holding the tape. Our fit experts will confirm or correct it. Email us at fit@luxire.com.
Don't Worry About Perfection
If anything is off, we'll remake it at no cost. That's the Luxire 100% Fit Guarantee.
Keep Pleats Closed
When measuring pleated pants, always measure with the pleats folded closed — never stretched open.
